Anyone got any recommendations for big 70-72 Dark Stars? That's what I need today. Thanks.

Here's a monster Dark Star from 1970:

The Dark Stars of 1971 aren't "great big ones", but along with the 10/31/71 version, this one's quite nice:

1972 Dark Stars, well, they're all huge, and there are many '72 recommendations around, but here are a couple that come out of Truckin' -
a fiery Truckin>Dark Star>Comes a Time:

and an unusual Truckin>Dark Star>Morning Dew:

Or you might try this one, a short little Playing>drums>Dark Star>Morning Dew>Playing....

Halloween 1971 - AKA Dick's Picks Vol 2. One of the all-time greats.

And while we're talking about Ohio, Cleveland 10/28/72 is sublime...

If you've time for just one more this a perfect combination of beauty and power, as part of a 4 piece section taken from a great show. http://www.archive.org/details/gd72-05-25.psbd.hamilton.147.sbeok.shnf

Wonderful, Snori, thanks. And FYI the whole show has been remastered and assembled by Mr. Charlie ...

I'm pretty sure I heard this one the last time you recommended - but thoroughly enjoyed it again today, so thank you. Great stuff - amazing jam that blows in at about 16:00 - anybody know what jam that is?

Was just talking with Arb about how great that is, and I think the "darkness" jam is the one matched with CCS, and this one, at the time you note in DS, is either the "feeling groovey" or "tighten up" jam??? Or, those might be others! Crap...

Somebody will clue us shortly, and correct me one way or another I am sure...I can never recall the names for these jams...An LiA tome would provide the info too, I am sure.

I see I've already been quoted.... I'll just note that yes, it was the Feelin' Groovy jam in the 9/19/70 Dark Star (the Darkness jam was in Not Fade Away). The Tighten Up jam was played in the 9/17/70 Dark Star.

Ah yes, it's good to know we can find all this around here somewhere...might be why I keep forgetting it all--it's just too easy to find one of your posts, or even easier to let someone else find it for me!

Thanks D--looks like LiA IDs the one from 16-20 min or so in this DS as the FG jam...that's what I recall having come across a time or two via CLIFF tips as well.

This one doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves, and I don't know why. My jaw just drops whenever I give it a listen. And as if 35 minutes of musical astonishment isn't enough, it drops exquisitely into one of those sweet,, early Stella Blues.
